Achmea Kennisquiz

In televisionshow Achmea Kennisquiz ("Knowledge quiz"), presenter Nicolette van Dam is in search of the smartest VMBO student of the Netherlands. Hundreds of students compete to be the best of their region, after which the twelve winners compete for the grand price: a scholarship of €250.000!

For the summer 2008 season of this popular show, the setting is renovated thoroughly. The desks of both presenter and contestants, as well as several parts of the setting have been fitted with LED-lighting of Lagotronics. Also voting systems and gaming techology of Lagotronics are used. Lagotronics developed custom gaming technology software with integrated control for the DecaLED® RGB Modules through DMX. This software also controls audio and graphics, to fully integrate all different elements during the recording of the show.

A new feature that is hidden for the audience, is that the desk of the presenter is wireless now. It allows her to see the course of the game, information and scores, without any cable hassle during changements. The show's director also benefits of this new, by Lagotronics developed, technology, as he can check i.e. whether batteries have to be replaced, during recordings. This way, Lagotronics tries to think with the producers of the television show and to reduce workload within the tight recording schedules.

The wireless system, which has been custom designed for this show, will be reused in the near future for various projects, as the numerous setting changes in a television show can lead to many (technical) complications.
