Tarzan (the Netherlands, Germany)

As the regular supplier of Stage Entertainment Nederland, Lagotronics was responsible for the set lighting for the musical Tarzan.

In collaboration with the American lighting designers, Lagotronics came up with a solution for the lighting of the jungle, which is the main backdrop in the musical. In order to create a three-dimensional effect, the designers were looking for a powerful LED spot with RGB LEDs. Although the main colour was obviously green, the spots also needed to have the capability to change the jungle's colour in order to create evening and night effects. Following a presentation of the DecaLED® Color Wash 36 at Disney's head office in New York, the lighting designers were completely convinced of the power and deep colours of the 36 x 1 Watt Luxeon LEDs.

A total of 530 pieces DecaLED® Color Wash 36 were placed in a layer frame, which was located behind a green-coloured wall. The layer frame, some twelve metres long, 16 metres high and 30 metres wide, also functions as a staircase for actors who need to get to the upper floor of the set. From this balustrade, they can hook into the safety system, after which they can swing onto the stage.
