Jan Hermkes: Architecture, design and LED

Architect Jan Hermkes has been a valued customer of Lagotronics for some time. He was among other things responsible for the design of the Lagotronics headoffice. Recently Hermkes completed two eye-catching projects: the renovation of a bungalow and the expansion of a luxury apartment in the city centre of Venlo. Both projects benefit from the knowledge and products of Lagotronics BV.

Bungalow

The renovation of this bungalow has been realized on the basis of the total makeover-concept, which is the specialty of Jan Hermkes Architects. After the renovation, LED-lighting by Lagotronics has been broadly applied in the kitchen. For example, 14 DecaLED® Color Bar 18 RGB's and complementing DecaLED® High Power DMX Controllers are part of the lighting setup. Construction company Gebroeders Swillens took care of the installation and programming of the colour usage. The LEDs behind the glass closet windows consists of RGB-LEDs, which are capable of reproducing 16.7 million colours.

The installation of LED-lighting (both working lighting above the cooking isle and the decorative lighting behind the glass closet wall) proved to be very simple. The result delivers a unique and pleasent atmosphere, which can be concluded from the enthusiastic responses of the owner and visitors of the bungalow.

Apartment

The apartment in the city centre of Venlo is a good example of architect Hermkes' vivid imagination. The design of the outside facade was inspired by the classic facades of the Begijnengang. The newly built facade fits perfectly within the existing situation.

Hermkes gave the outside terrace a modern, eye-catching design which complements the interior design of the apartment. The outside terrace is constructed from modern components such as a steel railing with integrated LED-lighting from Lagotronics. The LED-lighting provides a pleasant blue glow, which creates an atmospere that fits the excentric interior design of the apartment. The LED-lighting (DecaLED® IP Strips) were installed by Wil Ruhl Installatietechniek, in assignment of Beukbouw & Partners BV. They have done an excellent job.
