Idols (the Netherlands)

Idols (the Dutch equivalent to Pop Idol, American Idol and Deutschland sucht den Superstar) needs no introduction. The show's first season in The Netherlands created a massive hype. For the first edition in 2004 Lagotronics supplied a range of LED products from its rental department. After the somewhat modest set and lighting of the first edition, the 2005 and 2006 editions were spectacularly decorated.

Lagotronics supplied, installed and operated a wide range of LED products during the second and third editions of the show. Idols became a showcase for the most innovative and unique products in the market sector. As the market leader in TV and theatre productions, Lagotronics was called upon to find lighting solutions for the awe-inspiring set. 2005's set contained some 216 metres of LagoLED® DMX-i strips. In 2006, 32 special frames called Decagrids were made which were hung between layer frames. With 80 pixels (DecaLED® RGB Module) per frame (2x2 metres), Decagrid is a great eye-catcher in set backdrops.

• Our field crew worked some 700 hours to manufacture, install, operate and take down the frames
• Around 2800 DecaLED® RGB Modules were implemented into the frames
• Around 1.2 kilometres of cable was used in the frames; an additional 700 metres of cable was used to connect everything in Studio 22 in Hilversum, The Netherlands
