LED lighting for Dutch government

27-8-2008

Lagotronics in collaboration with Arup, Lichtpunt, Imtech and Visual Productions completed a both innovative and a large LED installation in the LEF Future Center of Rijkswaterstaat (Dutch government).

Along highway A12 stands the recently completed Rijkswaterstaat building, in which the LEF future center will open to the public on september 9th. The LEF future center is designed to provide visitors and employees of Rijkswaterstaat with a fully controllable environment. The government hopes this will lead to new, innovative and highly creative insights in order to improve existing problems such as the frequent traffic jams.

The centre is equipped with approximately 1500 pieces DecaLED® Dot DMX by Lagotronics, which were installed in the flooring by Imtech Utility West. The LED lights in the floor of the LEF future center is part of a spectacular presentation of audio, video and LED lighting. This combination of materials provides an unprecedented number of opportunities that allows full control to experience the atmosphere and emotion in the future LEF center.

In combination with the impressive audiovisual presentation, the DecaLED® Dot DMX adds to the general atmosphere, but they are also applied to mark moving parts of the floor. The DecaLED® Dot DMX not only enrich the atmosphere, but they also contribute to overall security! The bright spots in the floor provide an impressive ambiance because of the abundant presence and ability to create graphics and multiple colours. Each of the 1500 pieces DecaLED® Dot DMX is separately controllable through DMX, one of the unique features of this extremely user-friendly product. One LagoLED® USB-i 505 controller drives 100 Dots.

Control of the DecaLED® Dot DMX and all audiovisual equipment is done by Visual Productions, a leading company in matrix-driven control of LEDs. Visual Productions developed for this project a number of special modules which can control DMX channels and also potentially free contacts, midi and other signals can be controlled.

The LEF future center is open from the 9th of september. Lagotronics hopes that the contribution of the LED lighting enables Rijkswaterstaat to envision creative solutions for, among other things, the traffic problems!
